Curriculum

This section of the website focuses on the various different curriculum programs that we have at DISV. We were authorised to deliver the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program in 1992, the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (MYP) in 2003 and we currently deliver the inquiry based Putting it into Practice Program (PiiP). However, we are applying to the IBO to deliver the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (PYP) in August 2010.

The guiding principals of the curriculum used at Danube International School Vienna are:

  • students should develop a holistic attitude to knowledge; they should see the subjects they learn as an integrated whole.
  • students' own cultural experiences and backgrounds, and those of our diverse teaching staff, are a valuable learning resource; we encourage understanding through intercultural awareness.
  • the ability to express ideas both reflects and deepens understanding; students' communication skills are central to their learning.

The aim of all IB programs is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world.

Please take the opportunity to look through the other pages in this section to find out more about the IB programs and our approach to assessment and languages.
